Know Thine Enemy 12

The scriptures and truths in this article were either provided or inspired by my Pastor, Kent McBay.

Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Satan would like to convince that we can be saved in any other way than asking the Lord to save us. He would like to convince that the power of God alone to save does not exist or that we do not need it.

2 Timothy 3:5: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

He wants no one to have multiplied grace and peace.

2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

He knows our spiritual weakness and attacks us there. He knows that when we become proud of our spiritual strength he can successfully attack us in our pride. He is relentless. He does not want us to know that God always provides a way to avoid sin.

1 Corinthians 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

He does not want us to know that we possess spiritual gifts.

1 Corinthians 12:1: Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

1 Samuel 30:6: And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

All the people were grieved but only David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. Satan wants us all to be discouraged.

1 Corinthians 14:33: For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Satan wants us confused but God wants us to have peace, wisdom and knowledge.

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Satan wants us to believe that the Bible is not from God, that we don*t need it, that it is useless and that it cannot enable us to do good works.

Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Satan does not want us to love God or our neighbour.

Luke 19:13: And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Isaiah 40:31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Satan wants us to be occupied with the wrong things. He wants us to be too busy to pray, too busy to study the Bible, too busy to be taught the Bible, too busy to meditate, too busy to grow spiritually and too busy to serve the Lord. He wants us in busyness rather than the Lord*s business. He does not want us to wait upon the Lord. Waiting upon the Lord is not a waste of time, it is a saving of time.

The mother of George Beverly Shea was noted for being unwilling to speak evil of anyone. When someone tried to provoke her to say something harsh about Satan said about him: He is persistent though, isn*t he. We all need to know that he is persistent.
